The Head of Quality is responsible for leading and shaping the strategic direction, execution, and continuous improvement of quality assurance processes within althaus’ programmes. This role is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of teaching, learning, and assessment, ensuring that apprenticeship delivery meets both internal benchmarks and regulatory standards.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a talented and passionate Head of Quality to join our team and lead the quality strategy across the organisation.

The Role…

The Head of Quality will be responsible for overseeing and driving the overall quality management process across all of Althaus Digital’s services. You will lead a small team of quality assurance professionals, establish quality standards, and ensure that Althaus Digital’s solutions meet and exceed quality expectations. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a robust quality framework that supports our business goals, drives operational efficiency, and enhances customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Althaus Digital’s quality assurance and quality control processes across all projects and initiatives.
  • Lead and manage the quality assurance team, providing mentorship, training, and guidance to ensure continuous development and high performance.
  • SAR and QIP Management: Oversee the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) for apprenticeship programmes, ensuring accurate reporting and effective implementation of improvement actions.
  • Define and establish clear quality standards, metrics, and KPIs to track progress and ensure consistent quality across all deliverables.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that quality is integrated throughout the apprenticeship / skills bootcamp lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular audits, reviews, and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Observation of Teaching, Learning and Assessment: Conduct learning walks, walk-throughs and observations to identify and share good practices while addressing areas needing improvement.
  • Lead the identification and resolution of quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed.
  • Ensure that testing, reviews, and documentation processes are streamlined and effective, optimising the efficiency of the QA function.Quality Assurance Meetings: Participate in monthly quality assurance meetings, monitoring apprentice progress and implementing necessary improvement strategies.

The Person…

The successful candidate must be working in a ‘Head of’ Quality level role with a vision for improvement. They must also have recent experience of leading and managing Ofsted inspections, acting as Ofsted Nominee.

Skills and Experience…

  • Experience of completing Self-Assessments and Quality Improvement Plans across the business in line with Education Inspection Framework, managing the quality assurance strategy and implementation of the quality learner journey.
  • Experience leading a team and participating in the professional development of staff who deliver training.
  • Experience preparing for and managing external inspections, audits, or reviews, with a solid understanding of compliance requirements.
  • Experience working in a technology-driven environment, ideally within software development, digital solutions, or IT services.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and a keen eye for detail.

This is a hybrid role and will require travel to Derby (East Midlands) for meetings at least 1 day per week.
